Kimberly Baffi is "Lürzer’s Archive International Student of the Year 2008"

Kimberly Baffi is "Lürzer’s Archive International Student of the Year 2008"

Antiquated though it may at first appear, writing by hand can be a genuine pleasure once again for all those who choose to use Mont Blanc fountain pens. "Say goodbye to acronyms, abbreviations, et cetera, et cetera," runs the headline of the prize-winning ad by Kimberly Baffi.

Of the total of 940 campaigns submitted this year by colleges and universities from around the world, 31 made it into the pages of the internationally acclaimed magazine "Lürzer’s Archive," which acts as a showcase for outstanding print and TV campaigns. As is the case every year, readers were invited to choose their own favorites. Votes were cast by 7,289 creatives, 1,007 of them having opted in favor of Kimberly Baffi. No less than 796 votes were cast on the busiest "polling day."

Here is a brief selection of comments posted by those voting for Baffi’s
work: "This is my fave, just because it is a good old’ fashioned headline, something I see fewer and fewer students able to manage" "Simple, clean, messaging for product is strong", "Very clever, and timely", and: "Wow. This Kimberly Baffi is talented. How can I hire her?"

The winner will be flown to the New York Festivals in May 2009, where she will be presented with the "Student of the Year" trophy, the specially produced "Lürzer's Archive Sixpack."

The Award was first established in 2004 to provide students of advertising and communications design with a platform for their work. A number of our readers – among them leading advertising industry figures – originally encouraged us to establish a competition for new and up-and-coming advertising talents.

The very first "Student of the Year," Menno Kluin, has since launched a highly successful career at Saatchi & Saatchi New York, and has already won a clutch of Gold Lions in Cannes.

Published every two months, "Lürzer’s Archive" is read by 150,000 creatives in 35 countries worldwide.

Luerzer's Archive to publish 200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide 08/09

Following the resounding success of “200 Best Ad Photographers worldwide 06/07,” our upcoming Archive Special will be showcasing the work of 200 of the world's best advertising photographers in a volume numbering no less than 440 pages. The price of this special issue is just $29.50.
Each photographer featured was nominated by top art directors worldwide. Submissions were accepted only if the images in question had been published in an advertising campaign produced no longer than 18 months ago.
Final selection was made by an international jury whose members included Michael Weinzettl, Editor in Chief of Luerzer's Archive Magazine, Anne-Rose Schlutbohm, the former publisher of "Profession Photographe," Paris, Anne Telford, Editor-at large of “Communications Arts Magazine,” Nadav Kandar, London, photographer on several award-winning works commissioned by high-profile clients, John LaMacchia, art director at Ogilvy, New York, and Stephanie Anderson, co-owner of the artists representation agency Anderson Hopkins, New York.
Following final selection, photographers were free to decide whether they wished to have images published – and how many.
The names of the photographer, agency, art director and client appear under each image. The index of the book also lists full contact details for each photographer.
A further advantage of the book is the unique flip cover system. This enables you to select the photographer from the index and to flip open the relevant page in the book at the same time.
Each photographer featured in the 200 Best Ad Photographers volume has a twelve-image web portfolio complete with full online contact details.
A total of 30,000 copies of 200 Best Ad Photographers worldwide 08/09 will be distributed to a global audience of art buyers by our distributors in 35 countries around the world.
Please note that we are already working on the next edition of “200 Best Illustrators worldwide 2009/2010.” Furthermore, another new publication, “200 Best Packaging Designers worldwide 2009/2010,” is also in progress, and will be produced along the lines of our specials “Lürzer’s Archive Special Packaging Design Vols. 1 + 2.”
